  8. This folder contains Think C 5.0 source for a Macintosh
  9. NNTP server.  In order to use this NNTP server on a Macintosh
  10. you must have MacTCP installed.  MacTCP is available from
  11. APDA:   (800) 282-2732, in Canada (800) 637-0029,
  12. and International (408) 562-3910.

  14. This server runs on the same Macintosh as your news reader,
  15. and uses MacTCP to provide the 'normal' interface to the news reader.
  16. This SAMPLE CODE is fully functional, but is only meant to
  17. demonstrate programmatic access to NetNews/CD.

  19. In the future, the hope is that all of the common Mac news readers
  20. will be updated to allow the use of local storage devices (CDs,
  21. hard disks,  and floppys).  The interface used in this server is
  22. compatible with any local storage devices, not just CDs.  Can
  23. you imagine taking your portable along on vacation, with a few
  24. megabytes of news dumped to floppys, in order to catch up on
  25. reading your favorite newsgroups...well maybe not.
